Scouting Report 1.0 — 06.20.2014 (Matthew Quammen)
I must be going crazy, because I don't see this one. For a guy rated in Chad Ford's top 10 best available players, he sure didn't affect a lot of games. He has a Chris Bosh-like ability to have the reputation and advanced metrics of a star, but absolutely disappear when you watch him play. Harris has the reputation of a guy with a strong off the bounce game, a good midrange game, and a deadly three point shot.

I didn't see much off the bounce, the midrange game is dead, and he was a "toe-it-up" shooter from the college line, which doesn't translate to the NBA line. He has a reputation as a good defender, and that certainly holds true to the eyeball test--he defended the opponent's best guard or wing. But as advanced metrics has shown definitively, wing defense is not something you can build a team around.

I keep hearing comparisons to Bradley Beal, and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. He can't rebound or shoot like Beal and he is significantly smaller, less athletic, and less aggressive. I think he's the next up in a long line of Michigan State busts. Worst case: manager of your local Wendy's; medium case: James Anderson; and best case, Randy Foye. I await your rebuttal, Gary.
